A Big Swell Hits Capitola
A couple times a year, usually during the big winter storms, Capitola sees overhead surf. On those days the otherwise serene and locals only break gets swamped by surfers squeezing into the line up by the stone jetty. This season the swell hit early and I shot dawn patrol where I'm sure I counted at least eighty lining up for some long and overhead rides. Light was perfect on the day that daylight savings fell back and a light mist was clearing as the tide dropped.
