Ocean Views, Blues and Splashes, Fall '18

For a long time I have wanted to capture my perspectives on the ocean and the land beyond from my PaddleBoard, my head-space, my reflection-location. My little GoPro Hero Session is my tool that captures the immediacy I have with the ocean. The almost fish-eye perspective was one I tried to alter when I first edited the results as still images. After a while I realized that the quirky angle as it sits on the nose of my board, the curvature of the fish-eye and the low position are an essential part of the capture. My GoPro series are more about the moment, the splash as my board cuts through the chop, the merging of sky and ocean, be it blue or, often in the Monterey Bay, gray, the distant view of land above the kelp line. My view, out there with the vastness of space and the plentitude of nature.
