17 Mile Drive and a Turbulent Sea, December '16
17 Mile Drive can be a bit of a tourist trap, even at this time of the year which does tend to be the best time to experience the Monterey Peninsula, ironically. It is still worthwhile negotiating the tourists in their rental cars when the light is so good and the ocean so characterful. The bay around the peninsula is such a beautiful blue and the hidden rocks and reefs and white sand churning the incoming swell create textures and shapes unique to the local geography.
